Next phase of Nottingham’s full fibre network complete

Faster Britain full fibre network expansion across Nottingham goes live

  • New extension creates 62km full fibre network which spans the city and into business and industrial areas including Nottingham Science & Technology Park, Lenton Industrial Park, and will include the Nottingham Enterprise Zone
  • Expansion builds on ITS’ established Faster Britain network that follows the tramlines from the city centre to Clifton and Tollerton

Alternative network provider, ITS Technology Group (ITS) has launched the second phase of its Nottingham Faster Britain full fibre network, more than tripling its digital infrastructure in the area.

The original full fibre network, completed in 2017, reused ducts that follow the 17km route of the tramlines from the city centre out to Clifton and Tollerton. This latest phase extends the network to more than 62km, giving many more businesses access to high quality, gigabit capable connectivity.

ITS’ Faster Britain network now spans the city centre, building out a full fibre route to cover many business parks and industrial areas including Nottingham Science & Technology Park, Bilborough, Glaisdale Industrial Estate, Lenton Industrial Park, and across the river to West Bridgeford. ITS is also committed to expanding the network across the Nottingham Enterprise Zone.

ITS is capable of connecting customers to gigabit connectivity far quicker than the industry norm thanks to its reuse, or ‘dig once’ approach which avoids disruptive road digs and road works.

Daren Baythorpe, CEO of ITS said: “This build has been stimulated by increased demand from businesses across the city. We’re excited to be playing such an integral role in the digital aspirations of businesses in this area. Reliable, high speed connectivity is a necessity, and we continue to work with our partners to identify the areas that are underserved. It’s by making this our mission that our Faster Britain programme is playing its part in delivering on the government’s promise to have 100% Gigabit capability by 2033.”

As part of the Faster Britain programme, business premises across Nottingham are able to access a huge range of IT, telephony, gigabit capable broadband and connectivity solutions via ITS’ extensive partner community, and are being encouraged to register their interest at www.fasterbritain.com/nottingham/.
