Key purpose of the role

As Technical Delivery Manager you will drive various program / project initiatives within ITS. The ideal candidate will have excellent stakeholder management experience and a good understanding of running projects related to IT applications, technical integrations, testing and cutovers. Experience of both bespoke hosted applications and SAAS / PAAS would be beneficial.

Success in this role means you are exceptionally attentive to detail, have a strong analytical background, familiar with risk management and well skilled at forecasting and planning of technical deliverables. You possess strong influencing skills and have worked with external (onshore and offshore) and internal teams of diverse backgrounds.

Reporting to the Head of Systems and I.T you will be part of the Systems and I.T team

Key Accountabilities

  • Managing IT Projects – Project sizes will vary in scope and complexity. You can efficiently and effectively manage your project workload throughout its life cycle – from inception to project closure – in a timely manner and meeting qualitative and financial objectives.
  • You can support in building business cases and develop capacity plans. You can control, change, mitigate risks and deliver results as committed. You regularly track project activities against plan schedules and take corrective action against any deviations. Effective time management and influencing people skills are key ingredients to be successful in managing the projects and ensuring on budget, to quality and customer expectations delivery.
  • Working with project teams – Every project is completed through team effort. Your communication activities cover team members, suppliers, management stakeholders and customers alike. You should ensure continuous understanding and alignment regarding project progress and guarantee Operational Excellence in accordance with the terms of contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in place.
  • Project Management administration – Your ability to write clearly and simply are key skills to documenting project activities. Documentation ranges from developing communications strategy plans, designing resource and project plans, providing status reports, submitting, and tracking change requests and risks, and providing Steering Committee reports and lessons learned. Accuracy is the key.

Person Specification Overview


  • Minimum of 6-8 years IT experience or equivalent work experience in a relevant environment, you have a track record of success in managing multiple projects including complex budgets and deliverables within a commercial or IT environment
  • Experience in delivery in the telecoms industry
  • Experience working with On-shore and off-shore delivery teams
  • You have experience in managing geographically distributed project teams comprised of internal IT, business stakeholders, external suppliers, and Software & Hardware vendors
  • Formal Project Management training and certification – PMP or Prince 2 advantageous
  • Ideally have experience of Agile delivery (Scrum or SAFe)
