About ITS
We exist to ensure the UK has the best full fibre networks, delivering gigabit-capable connectivity to businesses through our growing partner community. This enables opportunity, progress, exploration, creativity, innovation and commerce.
Recognised in the 2026 Sunday Times 100 Tech as one of Britain’s fastest-growing private technology companies, we’re continuing to scale at pace, making this an exciting time to join ITS, for your career, for our business and for the future.
The Opportunity
As Diversionary Works Project Engineer, you’ll take ownership of diversionary works activity across the full project lifecycle, from C2 enquiry through to C9 close-out. Blending fibre planning, site survey work and stakeholder coordination, this role sits close to our network delivery operation and has a direct impact on how apparatus relocations are planned, costed and delivered. It’s a varied opportunity for someone who understands diversionary works and enjoys turning technical requirements into clear, well-managed project delivery.
Responsibilities
You’ll plan, coordinate and progress diversionary works projects so network changes are delivered safely, accurately and with clear communication throughout; you’ll be:
- Owning diversionary works projects from C2 enquiry through to C9 completion, keeping activity planned, tracked and moving to agreed timescales.
- Reviewing client enquiries, attending meetings and carrying out site surveys to understand requirements and provide practical technical advice.
- Producing accurate design packs, C3 and C4 estimates, project trackers, progress reports and technical updates in line with ITS standards.
- Updating APX and other operational systems so network records, asset information and project data stay accurate and complete.
- Coordinating with Project Managers, contractors, clients, utility companies, local authorities and internal teams to support successful apparatus relocations.
- Supervising site activity where required, helping works progress safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications.
- Monitoring risks, costs, quality and delivery progress, escalating issues early and helping create clear recovery plans.
- Working with the Accounts team to support invoicing, payment follow-up, cost reconciliation and financial close-out at C9 stage.
About You
We’re looking for a practical fibre planner with strong diversionary works knowledge, good technical judgement and the confidence to work across both field and office environments; you’ll likely bring:
- A clear understanding of the diversionary works process and how it applies to telecommunications infrastructure projects.
- Experience in fibre network planning using industry-standard planning, design, GIS or network inventory tools.
- Experience using APX or a similar GIS-based asset or network inventory management system.
- Site survey experience across fibre optic, GPON, underground or overhead network build environments.
- Working knowledge of telecoms construction methods, quality standards, compliance requirements and safe site working practices.
- Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, local authorities, utility companies and internal stakeholders.
- Relevant Openreach accreditations such as SA001, SA002 or equivalent network access certifications.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
- Experience with cable installation or splicing would be advantageous, but the key requirement is a solid understanding of fibre planning and diversionary works delivery.
Why ITS
At ITS, you’ll be part of a growing technology business delivering critical full-fibre infrastructure across the UK. You’ll benefit from:
- A varied role combining fibre planning, surveys, stakeholder management and project delivery.
- The opportunity to shape and improve the diversionary works process within a growing full-fibre network business.
- Exposure to business-grade connectivity, partner-led delivery and complex infrastructure coordination.
- A collaborative environment where practical problem-solving, accuracy and clear communication are valued.
- The chance to build your technical and project delivery experience as ITS continues to scale.
