LCR Connect is a full-fibre, ultrafast, gigabit-capable network spanning the Liverpool City Region – it’s a gateway to access next-generation future-proofed and cloud-enabled technologies.
Delivering a 212km full-fibre, ultrafast, gigabit-capable network infrastructure across the region, it will equip businesses, investors, universities, schools, hospitals, residents and students across the six local authorities to access next-generation, future-proofed and cloud-enabled technologies.
It will also put City Region businesses in prime position to lead the way in a host of growing sectors, from health and life sciences, Artificial Intelligence, virtual and augmented reality and advanced manufacturing – driving business growth and investment.
Connecting all six boroughs within the region, the network will link key digital assets including Data Centres, BT exchanges, and landing stations for continental and intercontinental connections.
LCR Connect will position the Liverpool City Region as a Digital Connectivity Leader.
LCR Connect is half-owned by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, in partnership with North West-based ITS Technology Group, who will lead the project, working alongside construction partner NGE, who are managing the build and roll-out of the network.
Experts estimate that with 100% full-fibre coverage across the City Region, building on this network, the economic boost could be worth up to £1bn, creating thousands of local job and training opportunities.
