Budget : ITS’ Response to Rural Broadband Commitment

“The issue of rural broadband remains as critical as ever. Connectivity shouldn’t have to be a postcode lottery and it’s great news that further significant funds are being earmarked.

“The current BDUK Local Full Fibre Networks initiatives are exactly the right channels for these funds to enable affordable broadband in local rural communities.

“Upgrading rural public sector sites so they can become ‘backhaul hubs’ for local community schemes isn’t a new idea- but it’s the right time to refresh it.

“ITS has a strong track record in enabling rural communities with affordable fibre and wireless broadband; this approach will enable many more rural schemes to be economically viable and we look forward to playing our part to the full.”
