Hereford Faster Britain Network Expansion

New digital network connects businesses across Hereford City Centre with businesses going from some of the worst connected to some of the best in the UK.

Hereford’s ‘Faster Britain’ full fibre network has been extended to bring gigabit capable speeds to new areas across the city.

The Faster Britain digital infrastructure, which is powered by alternative network provider ITS Technology Group will be live in June, with businesses able to pre-order from next month.

Since the turn of the year engineers have been extending the network – which initially covered Rotherwas Industrial Estate – soon to be connecting a full fibre route into the City Centre and the main routes out of the city, providing speeds of up to 10Gbps.

The extended network will span from Rotherwas Industrial Estate, through the city centre, spanning to Swainshill and Bobblestock, and along the A4103.

To date many businesses across Hereford have struggled to access speeds over 32Mbps (source: Ofcom), making it one of the worst areas for speed in the UK. However, as part of the go-live, businesses will now have access to ultrafast connectivity with speeds up to 10Gb available.

Through its approach to re-using existing infrastructure, Faster Britain builds are deployed faster than the competition by minimising disruption through intrusive, and often prolonged, digs.

As the Government promises 100% Gigabit capability by 2033 and with its announcement of Project Speed, ITS is playing a key role by building its Faster Britain network across the UK.

“I am delighted to see the extension of our full fibre footprint across Hereford. Since launching the network at Rotherwas Industrial Estate the response from the business community, looking to drive forward with their digital plans, has been phenomenal.

“It’s keeping close to those businesses and their respective groups that has really driven us to bring full fibre to more businesses in the area, working with our regional partners in the process. We’re excited to be playing such an integral role in the digital aspirations of businesses across the area”.

As part of the Faster Britain programme, businesses premises across the area are able to access a huge range of IT, telephony, gigabit capable broadband and connectivity solutions via ITS’s extensive partner community and are being encouraged to register their interest https://www.fasterbritain.com/hereford/
