Job Title: Senior Fibre Planner (Midlands)
Reports To: Head of Planning
Direct Reports: 2-4
Key Internal Interfaces: Projects Team, ITS Field Teams, ITS Provisioning Teams
Key External Interfaces: Customers, Build Contractors, External planning resource

Main Purpose of Role

The Senior Fibre Planner is responsible for all Planning activities in their assigned region, overseeing
Fibre Design staff, design civils and fibre-optic infrastructure. This must be performed to agreed
install methodologies and techniques, which are cost-effective and fit-for-purpose, within timescales
that are suitable both for the company and the customer.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• To design suitable civils and fibre optic infrastructure which are cost-effective, fit-for-purpose
and, where required, future-proof.
• To ensure all fibre records are maintained and updated accurately within their region.
• To forecast CAPEX and OPEX requirements of designed infrastructure projects.
• To produce detailed industry-standard documentation of that design.
• To help develop, implement and champion ITS network topologies.
• To be rigorous with respect to data quality within ITS ’s asset and customer management
systems.
• To drive consistency, quality, suitability, and cost-effectiveness.

Person Specification
Job Title: Senior Fibre Planner (Midlands)
Qualifications & Training
Essential
• GCSE level qualification, or equivalent, including Mathematics and English
• Full Clean Driving Licence
Desirable
• Knowledge of novel cable delaying techniques
• Environmental awareness
• GDPR
• Accounts
• NRSWA accreditation to supervisor level
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
• Detailed understanding of all aspects of civils route planning
• Detailed understanding of all aspects of fibre planning
• Ability to understand and produce detailed industry-standard level of survey, installation, and asbuilt documentation
• Knowledge and understanding of lit fibre services
Desirable
• FTTP methodologies and design
• Working knowledge of GIS software, APX, GComms, GE Smallworld or similar.
• Full understanding of UK local and national authority regulations in respect to civil engineering
works

• Good attention to detail and quality of data output
• Cost-effective approach to planning
• Able to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external teams
